To simulate the sound of the C64 or its famous SID chip, use this preset with the bit crusher simulating an 8-bit depth. Only use simple waveshapes (square/pulse, saw, triangle, noise) and stick to monophonic sounds. The C64 could only play three voices (oscillators) in parallel. Most musicians used one oscillator for the lead, one for the bass, and one for the drums. Since the oscillators were monophonic, the drum oscillator (often white noise with real-time switching to PWM to give the drum some 'body') could play either a kick or a snare, but not both. To give the illusion of a chord, very fast arpeggios were used on the lead voice. These fast arpeggios are the typical C64 sound.
